Job Summary

To assist our clients with hands-off activities of daily living.

Duties and Responsibilities

Companion Care:

  • Engaging the client in meaningful and respectful companionship and conversation
  • Reminiscing about pleasant past occurrences
  • Playing cards and other games that interest the client
  • Watching movies and listening to music
  • Creating and managing scrapbooks
  • Attending plays and lectures together
  • Offering non-medical transportation/driving
  • Crafts
  • Reading
  • Writing and mailing letters
  • Arranging appointments and accompanying the client
  • Planning social visits and trips and accompanying the client
  • Attending and participating in community events together
  • Plant care
  • Monitoring the client’s visitors
  • Attending club meetings together

Homemaker Services:

  • Laundry and ironing
  • Washing dishes
  • Taking out garbage
  • Vacuuming
  • Dusting and polishing furniture
  • Cleaning the oven
  • Cleaning the refrigerator
  • Cleaning kitchen surfaces and organizing the pantry
  • Dropping off and collecting dry cleaning
  • Picking up prescriptions
  • General shopping
  • Meal planning and preparation
  • Cleaning the bathroom
  • Home safety evaluation and elimination of safety hazards in the home/safe-proofing

Others:

  • Maintaining a written log of money used to purchase items for clients and keeping receipts
  • Reporting changes in clients to the Administrator or Supervisor
  • Documenting services and any notable occurrences, and submitting documentation as required

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Must have a high school diploma
  • Must be appropriately trained or be willing to undergo training
  • Must pass a competency assessment test covering all aspects of Companion Care and Homemaker Services
  • Must have first aid training
  • Must demonstrate a deep understanding of agency policies and procedures

Physical Demands:

  • Standing and sitting for more than 20 minutes
  • Pushing, pulling, lifting, crawling, crouching, kneeling, climbing, and stooping
  • Touching, feeling, holding, and handling
  • Talking and listening
  • Walking and running
  • Tasting and smelling

Other Requirements

  • Must be of good health as demonstrated by the pre-employment health screening procedure
  • Must possess strong ethics, be an excellent communicator, have people skills, and be able to speak, write, and understand English well
Hospital / Facility Sitter

Position Type: Non-Medical Care Coordination

Employment Type: PRN / Per Diem

Job Summary

To provide continuous non-medical supervision, companionship, and safety monitoring for patients in hospitals, facilities, or during in-home support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous observation and companionship to hospital patients
  • Monitor patient behavior and report changes to nursing staff immediately
  • Engage patients in calming conversation and supportive activities
  • Assist with non-medical comfort measures (adjust pillows, offer water)
  • Maintain accurate documentation of interactions and observations
  • Follow all hospital policies and infection-control procedures
  • Coordinate with medical staff regarding patient needs
  • Monitor and support family visits
  • Maintain visual supervision at ALL times
  • Advocate for patient comfort and dignity
  • Keep families informed as appropriate

Working Conditions

  • Hospital or facility environment with potential exposure to medical situations
  • 4–12 hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must maintain professional appearance and demeanor
  • Must maintain HIPAA compliance
